"Approximately 6 months ago, I began training with Steve Shewmake and Onward Fitness. I had an athletic background but, running two small businesses, had grown more sedentary and put on weight.

"I contacted Steve at Onward Fitness in May 2011 after becoming completely frustrated with a slow but steady weight gain, and lack of results from the exercise programs I had been doing for years. I interviewed three local trainers and Steve clearly had a program that was a good match for my requirements (no SEAL stuff or pre-dawn workouts, and I preferred to use my own home). My typical week involves 2-3 nights of business travel, and I needed to have a routine that I could do in a hotel room with a minimum of equipment and extra apparel. We started with a 2-3 times/week process and it was immediately apparent to be that having someone make you do it “right” and repetitively was a key to success. I especially like that this takes only an hour, no transportation time. I can fit this into my day whether I am at home or traveling. Steve rings the bell – and it’s a very efficient hour of my day.
Results were apparent in only a few weeks. I felt stronger, things that I could barely do in week one were a lot easier in week 3 and the workouts got increasingly harder to accommodate my newfound strength. Even now I am amazed at what I can accomplish. Each session introduces a new mix of exercises, to keep it constantly changing and interesting. While losing weight wasn’t my primary driver, it became a daily inspiration to me to work even harder and to pay a lot of attention to what I eat. I dropped 20 pounds over the summer, but most importantly I lost inches, my clothes fit again, and I am no longer worrying about what’s in the closet that fits. I have tapered off the frequency of personal training sessions but this is the best thing I have done for myself in a long time and I will continue to work with Steve so that I don’t get sidetracked again. I think that it is amazing what I have been able to accomplish in 4 months."
